The misery of life can be summed up in one word, “control”. Control is an attempt by the mind and ego to establish dominance over a situation, or a person. It is a refusal to accept what IS and allow the situation to just BE. It is a refusal to work within our feelings, and the need for the ego to establish control with the mind.
All of your life pivots on a fulcrum of the moment of NOW balancing between the opposites of thought and feelings. In the NOW, thoughts and feelings unite to manifest a whole you, not a mental you vs. a feeling you.
In your mind, you have to establish plans and goals to achieve your dreams and purposes, many of which you have no control over. But with the heart, manifestation is effortless when you work in harmony with life and the greater good of all. There is no struggle, or the pain of conflict. Your life flows from you from moment to moment and into each situation, as it presents itself to you and reveals the next opportunity to grow and discover who you are.
Many seek to establish their spirituality within the imagination, not through the school of inner encounter with themselves. They hope to walk around the buried fear, pain and sorrow and pretend it is not there. Little do they understand that these issues are what prevent a fuller and richer revelation of self within their consciousness.
Do not avoid pain, sorrow, fear and grief. Embrace them and feel them within yourself. They are the way your ego controls the manifestation of your awareness by blocking it with strong emotions and intense feelings. It is why these experiences feel like a death. You have to surrender control of the ego and mind and allow the natural wisdom of your being to guide you inwardly to an understanding of the nature of reality as it pertains to you.
Control is the way we avoid an authentic encounter within ourselves and the universe and give support to a life of illusion and bondage. It is our choice and we must choose between the two.
