"We all have an inner voice, our personal whisper from the universe.
All we have to do is listen -- feel and sense it with an open heart.
Sometimes it whispers of intuition or precognition. Other times,
it whispers an awareness, a remembrance from another plane.
Dare to listen. Dare to hear with your heart."

Eclipses and Why They Are Feared

By Robert Cosmar

In the movies, you almost always see primitive people cowering during an eclipse. On the outside, the Sun in most cases is eclipsed or blocked by the moon passing in its alignment with the earth and the Sun.

During a total eclipse, some parts of the earth are almost totally darkened during the day. This unusual event is disturbing, because it is not what is expected of the normal cycle of things.

To an astrologer, an eclipse signals a change in the normal energy of life. The Sun is the symbol of vitality, spiritual vigor, and stamina of life. When the moon or earth eclipse it, then that energy is affected.

The Moon is a symbol for the subjective, or darker, side of life. In astrology, the universe is all connected. Every physical form affects every other physical form and, subjectively, what they symbolize psychologically is affected also.

So to say it simply, during an eclipse the vitality of life, a person, or a nation is affected by the subjective memory, unconscious feelings, or repressed issues of the Moon. In most cases something will happen in the physical world to mirror or symbolize this inner feeling. An event will happen to balance the outward push of the Sun. An area of life will be brought into check to evaluate our growth or awareness.
