Chasing the tail of desire
It’s the outer desire of the ego that distracts from the subtle unfolding of awareness. Awareness seeks to reveal all that we are within, while the ego yearns for fulfillment through ideas and images that lack true feeling and genuine sincerity. The ego creates forgeries and manipulates the minds of others through them.
Most advertising is designed to appeal to the lust and desire of the ego. It appeals to the idea that without certain things we are not going to be happy or live a fulfilled life. That we are going to be incomplete until we own, purchase or possess something or someone. It plays on our natural vulnerability and ignorance of what is real and true.
Desire is a dog chasing its tail. It will never catch it and like the dog we forget that the tail is already there and attached. We do not need to chase our awareness, it is already within us, but we forget in our desire and our ego that we already own it.
