Suppressing the ego
It is very important that the ego is not suppressed in any form. We need the freedom to choose between our awareness (feelings) and the demands of the ego/mind. This freedom maintains a healthy balance between the mind/ego and heart in which the ego can surrender itself if it chooses to. We choose to lay down its defenses and let our heart in.
When you place negative or restrictive demands on the ego, the mind and the imagination they are thrust into conflict in conjunction with the unconscious and against the freedom of your awareness. The unconscious is a vast universe of repressed fear, judgment and incorrect understanding of life and existence born within the ego of humanity. It is a cesspool of negative life form energies or concepts barren of the glue of love. By repressing the ego we drive a wedge in understanding and create a widening gap between the experience of the unconscious and our natural awareness. This divide is a dangerous line between sanity and insanity.
The unconscious contains all the repressed dark memories, impulses, perversions and incorrect thinking of humanity and the individual. It is the garbage heap of the ego of humanity in comparison to the abundant awareness of eternity. It is the door to all that we consider as evil, dark and forbidding. Mental illness blossoms here if we give our identity to it totally.
