If you were to ask, what is the most important spiritual virtue or practice that leads to a deeper awareness, it might surprise you. So many are in a hurry to become aware or belonging to this and that group or practicing this or that technique and in many cases experiencing little results. Achievement is a great stumbling block to becoming aware, the idea that if you do this that what you want will just happen for you. You have no control over becoming aware, it just happens. No one knows the reason for this, some feel they should have to earn it, others feel they did earn it in another life. Who knows?
If there is a key to allowing awareness to naturally evolve within you it is in the words "ACCEPTANCE". Accept your life as it is, no matter how bad it seems. Let it show you that you really have nowhere to go but within. You cannot control anything except your view of what you think is happening. Acceptance does not mean do nothing, rather it says do what you have to do under the circumstances you are in. Do not seek to run from tragedy, fear or threat, but address each responsibly in their own time. Trust that the overall scheme of things is in good hands and you are being guided to your own greater good whether you understand it or not. Do not judge outer appearances or allow your imagination to dictate reality. Acceptance is a surrender that allows your true reality to manifest in its own time. It is your fate, destiny and your highest truth of expression in this lifetime.
Acceptance is allowing to be what is, without judgement of your mind and imagination. It shifts your attention from the mind and towards your feelings where your NATURAL awareness can reveal and address those issues that prevent you from being free. Fear is always an issue that must be dealt with to achieve greater awareness. You will create situations that address your fears and they can be very uncomfortable, bone chilling and stone cold chilling at times, but as you become aware of the root of fear within you also become aware of its deception and that leads to freedom from it. The most aware are always the most accepting and the most patient.
